A small staff team, consisting of a Faith Development Officer, Office Manager and part-time Finance Officer, under the management of the Director, are currently responsible for the day-to-day work of Youthcom.

Brian was appointed Director of Youth Ministry for the Diocese of Down and Connor in 1998. Brian has been involved in youth ministry for over 25 years, bringing with him a wealth of experience. Originally from Ardoyne, Brian began his career in Youth Ministry with the Passionist Fathers. He lives in Ballymena with his wife and four children.

Brian is responsible for setting the strategic direction of youth ministry in the diocese, including the training of youth ministers and promoting a comprehensive model of youth ministry. He works closely with other key partners in both the voluntary and statutory Youth Service.

Brian enjoys fishing on his days off, and dreams of playing on the hurling pitch again! He still retains an enthusiasm for working directly with young people and those involved in delivering youth work.

Claire Smylie is our Adminstration Officer at Youthcom and has been a part of the team from the beginning.

Claire is the welcoming voice you will hear when you phone Youthcom and will answer any questions or queries.

Claire spends her free time reading, cooking and taking a relaxing break in Donegal for some ceól agus craic.

Joe is the newest member of the team starting in September 2006. He has the role of Faith Development worker with Youthcom.

Joe is involved in training and supporting youth ministers and developing resources and programmes throughout the diocese such as GIFT, Faith Friends and other faith development programmes.

Joe is also actively involved in promoting the 'New Day' programme and peace and reconciliation initiatives throughout the diocese.

Joe is building relationships with groups working in youth ministry within the diocese, and is currently setting up a Diocesan Youth Forum. Any interested people aged 16-25 should apply.
