Our vision is of "a diocese where young people are crucial to the building of the Kingdom of God."

To bring this vision to reality we want to be proactive in developing excellence in youth ministry in our parishes and youth centres, and in working in partnership as far as our resources allow us with schools and the wider community in developing the personal, social and spiritual development of young people.

In considering and formulating its strategy, Youthcom has drawn a significant degree of content and much inspiration from 'Renewing the Vision - A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry.' (US Conference of Catholic Bishops 1997)

We find much in it that both echoes and challenges the nature and scope of Youthcom's own work, and general youth ministry provision in the diocese; we find much that exhorts us to even greater effort in the future. We have adopted its overall goals for youth ministry, and use its overarching principles to guide the development of our ministry with young people.
